Ergonomic Assessment

Ergonomic considerations during the design of a work process, workstation layout or plant purchase would allow an organisation to avoid unnecessary remedial alterations to minimise the risk of injury and maximise productivity at a later stage. A well designed work flow and workstation set-up can help to reduce the risk of discomfort, pain and injury and allows for work to be performed correctly over a long period of time.

It is of equal importance that you avoid prolonged periods in the one posture or performing the one task for extended period of time. Breaks from doing one task or posture are important to ensure variety between the muscles and joints being used and the most frequently muscles and joints are being rested. At SafeLink WHS Pty Ltd we offer both workplace ergonomic and office ergonomics assessments.

Workplace ergonomic

Workplace ergonomics looks at how people interact with their work within the production area for the purpose of preventing injury and increasing productivity. This is primarily associated with work-flow, repetitive movement, reach/stretches, physical demands, weight lift capacity, rest breaks, job rotation, lighting, ventilation, ambient noise, access way and work space.

Office ergonomics

Office ergonomics looks at the workstation layout within the office space and NOT the production area. The assessment will focus on employee workstations, to evaluate if they are set up correctly to minimize the risk of injury, reduce operator fatigue and discomfort, and hence maximize productivity. Making simple ergonomic improvements to office workstations will reduce the risks for musculoskeletal complaints which are normally accompanied with headaches, neck pain and back pain caused by poor sitting posture and workstation set up.
